Data brokers

Spokeo, Whitepages, Radaris and the hundreds behind them. They buy public records and sell your address, phone number, age and relatives.

For a California resident these go through the state's own deletion platform. One authenticated request, and every registered broker must act within 90 days and keep you off their list afterwards. It is free, and we do not charge for it.

Brokers outside that scheme

Brokers that are not on California's register, and everyone selling data about people outside the United States.

We write to each one directly under whichever law binds them, keep a copy of every letter, and chase the deadline.

Professional profile sites

the ones nobody works

Clay, Intch, TheOrg, NFX Signal, Founderio, freelancermap. They scrape your career from public sources and publish a profile you never made.

These are not on any competitor's list. We found them by asking the AI models where they got their information, and these are the pages they cited.

Company registries

where it gets personal

Registry mirrors republish company filings. That can mean a home address, if you have ever registered a business from home.

Objection under Article 21 where the underlying record is a legal requirement but its republication is not.

The AI models

We file those on your behalf. Perplexity accepts a legal agent, which is one reason we take a signed authorisation from you.

The four no software can do

These companies make removal something only you can complete, deliberately. Any service claiming to handle them automatically is either not doing it or not telling you. We give you the link, the reason and the steps.

  • LexisNexis

    20 minutes

    Verifies your identity before it acts, and the request has to come from you. There is an online route and a postal one, and neither can be completed by software. It is also one of the most worthwhile, because other services buy from them.

  • Acxiom

    10 minutes

    Requires a multi-step identity check. A single submitted form is rejected.

  • ZoomInfo

    5 minutes

    The confirmation link goes to your inbox and only you can click it.

  • HubSpot, formerly Clearbit

    5 minutes

    Clearbit was acquired in 2023 and the opt-out moved. Automation pointed at the old address still fails silently.

What we cannot remove

  • Anything inside a trained AI model. Nobody can. It cannot be erased without retraining the model, and no provider offers that. We remove the pages the model reads and file the requests it does accept.
  • Pages you control yourself. Your own site, your own LinkedIn. We point them out; the edit is yours to make.
  • News and public records at source. A newspaper archive or a court record is not a data broker. Sometimes a registry mirror republishing it can be objected to, and we will say when that is the case.
  • Anything you did not mark. We only ever ask for the removal of items you chose. Cartograph does not decide what should be private about you.
