How do I opt out of LexisNexis?
Go to their consumer portal at consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com. It carries an online opt-out and a printable form you can post instead, and it is also where you request your own consumer disclosure report. Expect identity checks either way, so budget twenty minutes and have identification to hand. It is the slowest opt-out in this market and the most worthwhile, because LexisNexis feeds many of the services further down the chain.
What to do
Open the consumer portal, choose the opt-out, and complete the identity steps. If you prefer paper, the same portal has a printable form and a postal address. Have identification to hand either way. Twenty minutes is a fair estimate, and most of it is proving you are you.
Ask for the file while you are there
The same portal issues your consumer disclosure report. That is the record itself, not a summary of it, and it is the only way to find out whether what they hold about you is even correct. A wrong entry can be disputed from the same place. What the Fair Credit Reporting Act lets you demand.
Why we tell you to do it yourself
This is one of the sources no software can finish for you. We publish which ones those are and exactly what each needs, rather than leaving them marked as pending. What we remove and what we cannot.
Common questions
- Where does the opt-out live?
- On their consumer portal at consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com. Read on 27 August 2026, that portal offers an opt-out you can submit online and a printable form you can post instead, alongside the consumer disclosure report and the dispute process.
- How long does it take?
- Budget twenty minutes. The time goes on identity verification rather than on the form, and if you choose the postal route you then wait on the post as well.
- Can a removal service do this for me?
- Not completely, and anyone saying otherwise is describing something they are not doing. The identity checks are designed to be answered by the person themselves. We give you the exact steps instead of marking it 'in progress' forever.
- What is the consumer disclosure report?
- It is the file they hold about you, and you can request it from the same portal. Reading it is worth more than the opt-out for some people: it shows what is actually in there, and errors can be disputed through the process on that page.
- Why bother with this one at all?
- Because it sits upstream. LexisNexis Risk Solutions supplies data used far down the chain, so a record corrected or suppressed here has effects that a single people-search opt-out does not.
- Does opting out remove me from everything they run?
- No. An opt-out is not the same as a deletion, and products regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act follow their own rules, where your remedies are access and dispute rather than removal.
