FAQ

Common questions

Everything you need to know about Cartograph and agent commerce.

What is Cartograph?

Cartograph is agent commerce analytics for Shopify. It monitors AI shopping agents visiting your store, scores your products for agent readiness, and gives you a dashboard to understand and optimize your agent traffic.

What are AI shopping agents?

AI shopping agents are AI assistants — like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Microsoft Copilot — that can browse the web and buy products on behalf of users. They operate via the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), a standard that lets agents discover stores, search products, and complete checkouts autonomously.

How does Cartograph work?

Install Cartograph from the Shopify App Store. Cartograph monitors agent traffic via UCP, scores your products on six readiness criteria, and displays analytics in your Shopify admin. No code required.

Is Cartograph free?

Cartograph includes a 14-day free trial. Paid plans are Starter at $9.90/mo (audit + product scoring), Growth at $49/mo (adds AI fixes, rank tracker, UCP profile, agent promotions), and Scale at $149/mo (adds 24h rank monitoring, unlimited AI optimizations, priority support). Install from the Shopify App Store to start your trial.

What data does Cartograph collect?

Cartograph collects your store domain, product catalog data (titles, descriptions, attributes), and agent traffic analytics (agent identifiers, queries, viewed products, checkout events). We never collect customer personal information — no names, emails, or payment data.

How do I improve my product scores?

Each product gets a score from 0–100 with specific recommendations. Common fixes include: adding detailed, structured descriptions; filling in product metafields; uploading multiple images with descriptive alt text; and properly categorizing products. The Growth plan includes an AI listing optimizer that rewrites content in one click.

Which AI agents does Cartograph detect?

Cartograph detects ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity, and any custom agent built on the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP). As the UCP ecosystem grows, new agents are automatically detected.
